Aliza Shoshana

I help people escape the real world and capture their attention and hearts with the art of belly dance.

From the moment I saw Shakira's "Hips Don't Lie" music video, I secretly knew I wanted to try belly dancing one day. While I had been performing since elementary school in plays, dance recitals, cheerleading, church choir, and more, I'd never been exposed to middle eastern culture or belly dancing before. Shakira's belly dancing, confidence, and curly hair were mesmerizing because I saw Latina representation and a cool dance that I'd never been exposed to before.

Fast forward to college, I'm heartbroken, fresh from a breakup, and a peer was handing out flyers in Turlington Plaza to invite other students to join the Belly Gators club. At first I kept walking by, but I felt the internal nudge to find out more and try it out. After the first few classes, I was hooked, and my soul thanked me for it. From helping the club convert to a funded student organization to graduating and joining the professional Gainesville Belly Dance Company, my personal dance journey is worth sharing on social media platforms so other people can be inspired to experience the art of belly dance one day.

Along with belly dancing with the Gainesville Belly Dance Company, I am gigging professionally.

My distinct value is my ability to create mesmerizing experiences.

With sparkle, glitter, and glam, I bring exciting and elegant professional belly dance shows to hookah lounges, weddings, birthday parties, other celebratory parties, and restaurants.

Follow my dance journey to learn what becoming a professional belly dancer is like!
